Overview

Where possible, Texas A&M applications and services should use NetID for authentication. There are a number of technologies which can be used to inetgrate NetIDs for use as the authentication credential, such as:

  • LDAP (Lightweight Directrory Access Protocol)
  • Active Directory (on-premise)
  • CAS & Shibboleth (for CAS or SAML protocol)
  • Microsoft Entra ID (for OIDC & SAML protocols)

To request an integration of your app with NetID authentication, send an email to identity@tamu.edu with the following information (please include whatever you have available; for vendor-supported or managed apps, we will assist in coordination with the vendor if clarification or integration work is needed):

  1. Your name, position, and office
  2. A technical contact (either your unit IT staff or a vendor contact)
  3. Which technologies can be used (CAS, SAML, OIDC)
  4. If the app should be restricted to specific populations (i.e. students only or employees only)
