Acceptable Use Policy
Acceptable Use Policy

The Texas A&M University network is governed by rules covering responsibilities when connecting to the network. All Texas A&M students must follow these rules while using the campus network. Ignorance of the rules is not a valid excuse. Please review the rules as you begin your semester to avoid legal consequences.

  • You are not allowed to create your own WiFi signal on campus.
  • All Texas A&M students must follow national copyright laws.
  • Review the university’s full Acceptable Use policy.

Approved Devices
Approved Devices

Using unapproved network devices in Texas A&M residence halls is strictly prohibited.

  • Router - Bring a router if you need to connect more than one device to the internet. Your router must have the ability to turn off its wireless signal. See instructions on setting up a router.
  • Extra-long Ethernet Cables - To connect your tech devices to your router and to the internet, we recommend cables approximately 20 feet long to give you the most flexibility in your room. Learn more.
  • Printer - If you bring a printer, make sure it has a USB or Bluetooth connection. Do not bring a printer that only operates wirelessly.

To see a complete list of devices that are allowed in the residence halls and learn how to set them up properly, visit TAMU WiFi for Residence Halls.
